The 12 Labors

The title of this collection refers directly to the 12 labors of Hercules, a series of episodes from Greek mythology linked together by a narrative relating to a journey undertaken by one of the greatest Greek heroes. Symbolically, completing tasks within psychoanalysis would mean the maturation of each individual.

However, the visual interpretation carried out by visual artists CeciliaThibes and Fernanda Dabus, Brazilians living in the USA, has as one of its starting points the study of Rudolf Steiner triad of colors as an artistic approach based on the philosophy of education and art of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, founder of anthroposophy.

This artistic vision seeks to holistically integrate the physical, spiritual, intellectual artistic development, with the study of color being based on Goethe's and Rudolf Steiner color theory. The appreciation of the abstract and contemporary art as a universe of natural experimentation of colors and composition at the artistic process of painting.

In this reasoning, the form comes from the colors, which have life and act as actors on the support used. If Hercules, in addition to strength, needs to use his intellectual capacity to carry out work and become a better person; the artists needed effort, courage, resilience and persistence to overcome their internal monsters and the plastic challenges of this endeavor.
